HEALTH EDUCATION

The Morongo Basin Healthcare District is pleased to present education and support programs to improve the health and wellness of our residents.

CHRONIC DISEASE MANAGEMENT

This program empowers participants to manage their specific chronic illness, whether it's high blood pressure, high cholesterol, congestive heart failure (CHF), diabetes, or COPD.

Four weekly classes build on the Optimal Health Program which is required before participating in this course. The classes are taught by Kathy Alkire, RN, BSN, MA; and Mary Ann Kelly, registered dietitian; with support from a therapist to manage stress and other influential factors.

Who should attend? It is designed for individuals who have a family history of, or diagnosis of chronic disease. Program curriculum is specific to each chronic illness.

The program is offered at locations in both Twentynine Palms and Yucca Valley. Registration is required. There is no fee to participate in the program. Classes begin in Fall; dates to be determined.
