HEALTH EDUCATION

The Morongo Basin Healthcare District is pleased to present education and support programs to improve the health and wellness of our residents.

OPTIMAL HEALTH PROGRAM

This program empowers participants to manage their health for optimal results.

Four weekly classes focus on managing health to improve quality of life, prevent chronic illness, help the participant make better food choices and teaches how to maintain successes. The classes are taught by Kathy Alkire, RN, BSN, MA; and Mary Ann Kelly, registered dietitian; with support from a therapist to manage stress and other influential factors.

Who should attend? This program is recommended for anyone seeking to improve their health and quality of life; individuals who are inactive and/or overweight; anyone who has a family history of, or diagnosis of, chronic disease. Those individuals planning to participate in the "Chronic Disease Management" must first attend this Optimal Health Program.

The program is offered twice a year both in Twentynine Palms and Yucca Valley. Registration is required. There is no fee to participate to participate in the program. Please contact Kathy Alkire, at 760-820-9223 for more information and class dates.
